HARMONY KUSASALETHU AND DEELKRAAL OPERATIONS

WATER USE LICENSE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR THE PROPOSED HARMONY KUSASALETHU PIPELINE PROJECT, IN MERAFONG CITY LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, GAUTENG, SOUTH AFRICA.

Harmony wishes to construct new return water and backfill pipelines from their existing Savuka Gold Plant to the Kusasalethu Plant. The proposed pipelines will pass through watercourses and therefore Section 21 (c and i) of the NWA water uses will be triggered. The proposed backfilling at the Kusasalethu shaft also triggers a Section 21 (g) water use, hence a water use license application process and associated amendment of the existing IWWMP is being undertaken.
