Great Karoo Wind Farm (Pty) Ltd intends applying to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) for a Part 1 Amendment to the Environmental Authorisation (EA Reference No. 12/12/20/2370/3) for the Great Karoo Wind Farm (Phase 3). Registered Interested and Affected Parties are hereby afforded an opportunity to review and comment on the Draft Part 1 Amendment Report. All comments received during the review period will be considered before the final amendment application is submitted to DFFE for consideration. The proposed layout amendment comprises a number of refinements resulting from the micro-siting process. These include adjustments to turbine hardstand orientations, the removal of several turbines, the removal of certain access roads, the realignment of selected internal access roads and overhead lines, and the relocation of a laydown area.

A registered interested and affected party is defined in Regulation 42 of the NEMA EIA Regulations and includes: all persons who, as a consequence of the public participation process conducted in respect of that application, have submitted written comments or attended meetings with the proponent, applicant or EAP; and all persons who have requested the proponent or applicant, in writing, for their names to be placed on the register.
