Harmony Gold: St Helena 123 Pipelines BA and WUL
Harmony plans to build an 11.4 km return water pipeline (650 NB, 4.5 mm thick, flanged steel per SANS 719) from the St Helena 123 TSF Return Water Dam to Dam 13, with future integration into the Free State Reclamation Programme and Nooitgedacht TSF project. The above-ground pipeline, installed on prefabricated concrete plinths, is designed for a flow rate of 1,583 m³/hr (439 l/s) and will largely follow the FSN1 Pipeline Project corridor to limit environmental impact. The route passes through parts of Klippan 14, Stuirmanspan 92, Marmegeli 20, and St Helena 42 farms within the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Lejweleputswa District, Free State Province. See attached map for location details.
Harmony Mining Company Ltd, hereafter referred to as the Applicant, has appointed Environmental Impact Management Services (Pty) Ltd (EIMS) as the Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to assist with undertaking the required environmental authorisation processes (including the statutory public participation), and to compile and submit the necessary documentation for the required environmental applications.
